Kathy Post Named 2015 Alumna of the Year at John Carroll High School
St. Lucie County, Florida – Kathy Post, Owner and Chief Executive Officer of Post Insurance in Port St. Lucie, has been named the 2015 Alumna of the Year for John Carroll High School in Fort Pierce, Florida. She was selected for her service, time, and dedication to others, and was recognized by Bishop Barbarito, Father Thomas E. Barrett, JCHS administrators, faculty, staff, and students during the school’s opening mass.
A third-generation Florida native, Post grew up in St. Lucie County and graduated from John Carroll High School in 1985. During her time at JCHS, she was active in academics, softball, cheerleading, chorus, and various clubs. “JCHS gave me a great foundation. They instilled in me a sense of pride for the community in which we live,” said Post. “I am grateful and humbled to receive this honor.”
Following graduation, Post earned her Associate Degree from Indian River Community College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Barry University. Today, she leads a team of 13 professionals at Post Insurance, serving residential and business clients throughout the Treasure Coast. “I was drawn to an insurance career right out of high school because I enjoy helping people,” she said. “I believe long-term happiness and success comes when you choose a career that you’re passionate about.”
In addition to her success as a business owner, Post has held statewide leadership positions advocating for clients. Her selection as Alumna of the Year also honors her continued support of JCHS and involvement with numerous nonprofit and civic organizations. Over the past three decades, she has remained committed to the mission of John Carroll, serving on multiple committees and volunteering her time to causes throughout the community.
Her service extends to organizations including the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Sunrise Theatre Foundation Board, American Heart Association, United Way, Early Learning Coalition, Children’s Services Council, Main Street Fort Pierce, Port St. Lucie Businesswomen, and the Economic Development Council.
Despite her many professional achievements, Post considers her most important role to be that of a mom. All four of her children have followed in her footsteps. Her two oldest attended JCHS, and her youngest are currently enrolled at St. Anastasia. “It’s fun to experience life through my children’s eyes. I’m grateful they’re getting the same sense of community and values that I received,” said Post.
As Alumna of the Year, Post serves as a role model to the John Carroll student community. “If I were talking to young people today,” she said, “I would tell them it’s important to have a strong moral and ethical foundation. Be patient and willing to listen. Be kind. Treat yourself and others with respect. Look for ways to serve. And most of all, focus on being a positive force in the world.”
