Kathy Post named in nation's Top 25 insurance agents

The Insurance Journal recently named Kathy Post, owner of Post Insurance & Financial, Inc. in St. Lucie West, as one of the nation's Top 25 Insurance 'Agents of the Year' for 2020. The Insurance Journal, considered the most-read national property and casualty publication for independent insurance agents and brokers, selects just 25 agents across the country for this honor.

'These agents are more than top sellers. While they have achieved impressive success in sales and demonstrated laudable business intelligence and entrepreneurial skills, they also have shown they have a passion for what they do and a commitment to professionalism.... For them, being an insurance agent is more than a job,' reads the industry publication's description of the award criteria. 

When being notified of the announcement, Kathy Post said, "It takes a whole team.  I'm so proud of the great people who support what we do every day."  The 14-person team at Post Insurance were shocked to receive the news.  "What a great honor to receive in a year with so many challenges," says 15-year employee Kelley Booth.  "With COVID-19, we never knew what the day might look like.  We adapted and evolved as we needed to."

The Insurance Journal summarized Post's contributions to her profession, her clients, and her community:

Post Insurance was founded in 1979, and today, second-generation owner Kathy Post leads a business model focused on growth and innovation. She has held leadership positions on insurance advisory councils to be a voice for her customers and shape the future of Florida's insurance industry and spearheaded an initiative to mentor agents around the state. Post Insurance's Commercial Department specializes in small business, main street, construction and non-profit insurance. Its Personal Lines Department specializes in homeowners and auto insurance and helping people understand the insurance marketplace in Florida.  Post also spends time volunteering and giving back to her community. Kathy received the 2017 United Way 'Community Angel' Award, named in the Top 40 Elite Women in Insurance by Insurance Business America in 2016, and named Alumna of the Year by John Carroll High School in 2015, among many other important awards of distinction.  She has volunteered to promote essential, free healthcare offered by the Volunteers in Medicine (VIM)/HANDS Clinic, she co-created the Gems of STEM Awards Luncheon to bring together women in science, technology, engineering and math to inspire girls in St. Lucie County to explore these fields, and she served on the Sunrise Theatre Revitalization Board in Fort Pierce to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars to return the theatre to its original, 100-year-old glory.

When asked about receiving this accolade, Kathy Post replied, "We are grateful to our business and residential customers for their trust and loyalty.  Although we have weathered many storms in our 42-year history, 2020 was a challenge like no other."  Post said, "We engaged in a lot of compassionate listening of both our customers and employees.  Our focus was to do our best to serve them through whatever they were facing. It's nice to be recognized for that."

Post is also active with the Economic Development Council of St. Lucie County (EDC), which shared the news of Post's Top 25 honor, one of only two agents in Florida to make the list.
